Kathi, that is a classic, beautiful quilt, a treasure indeed! Thank you for sharing it with us. Is this a gift for someone or are you going to keep it for yourself? If it was mine, I would declare it a keeper!

Actually, it's a wedding gift for the daughter of some very good friends. We've known her since before she was born.
I'm afraid that I have a habit of giving away the ones that I love the most.

Kathi, that is SO beautiful ! Well done. I do hope the recipient will treasure it.
I love the combination of hand quilting with the "patchwork" look.

Well, if you love the recipient of the quilt, then it's OK to give her this gift. If she's a brat, then I hope there's time to change your mind and give her something else. LOL

Oh, how beautiful!! I sincerely hope the bride appreciates your skill and time. Please take lots of pictures for yourself. You make my fingers itch to do something quilty. Come fall I plan to hit it hard--I've got 3 tops ready to sandwich and quilt, and several lifetimes of ideas. Thanks for sharing, be proud.

Kathi, How beautiful!
I know the bride & groom will treasure this act of love.
I swore I was going to do some hand quilting this summer....where does the darn time go!
Thanks you so much for sharing, it's just lovely!

Kathi, it's beautiful! I like the idea of using scraps for this pattern. Your HQing is fantastic - so even! What did you use to mark your design? NancyH

Nancy - I used a Roxanne's Quilters Choice charcoal pencil for the marking. It sharpens to a very fine point and is water soluble. Most of it wears itself off the fabric by the time I'm through with a row.
Judy - she is a lovely young lady, the daughter of very good friends. She was our high school valedictorian and then graduated magna cum laude from college. Now works for the U of Virginia, which is why I chose the Civil War fabrics.
