The 3-zone outdoor unit represents Quilt’s first hardware expansion since our initial product launch, and it’s designed to address real market needs. Industry-leading efficiency meets expanded capacity
With a SEER2 rating of 25.3 and HSPF2 (Region IV) rating of 12, the 3-zone outdoor unit sets a new efficiency standard for 3-zone ductless heat pumps. That’s 20% more efficient than comparable systems on the market.
The unit maintains Quilt’s exceptional cold climate performance with 100% heating capacity retention down to -5°F and 88% capacity at -13°F. At 52 dBA, it operates quieter than a normal conversation — critical for urban installations and noise-sensitive neighborhoods.
The 3-zone features the same distinctive matte black exterior as Quilt’s 2-zone outdoor unit — a design detail that partners and homeowners consistently praise for blending seamlessly into outdoor spaces rather than standing out like traditional HVAC equipment.

Making whole-home heat pumps more accessible
The 3-zone outdoor unit transforms the economics of larger installations. Partners can now handle three-, five-, and six-room installations with competitive pricing while reducing the outdoor footprint requirements for homeowners.
The unit comes pre-charged with 2,400g of R-32 refrigerant — good for all lineset lengths with no additional charging required. This simplifies installation while using a refrigerant with one-third the global warming potential of conventional options.

Smart technology that improves over time
Like all Quilt systems, the 3-zone outdoor unit includes the intelligence that makes Quilt unique: millimeter wave occupancy detection, room-by-room control via the Quilt Dial and app, real-time energy usage tracking, and over-the-air updates that deliver new features and performance improvements long after installation.
Recent updates to existing Quilt systems have included Auto-Away functionality to save energy in unoccupied rooms, comprehensive energy usage insights down to the hour, and increased heating and cooling capacity — all delivered automatically without service visits or hardware changes.
The 3-zone outdoor unit maintains compatibility with Quilt’s customizable indoor units, which measure just 7 ⅞ inches tall and come with white oak or paintable white covers that integrate seamlessly into any home aesthetic.
Available now for February delivery
The 3-zone outdoor unit is available now through Quilt Certified Partners, with first shipments arriving in early February 2026. The system qualifies for all available rebates thanks to its industry-leading efficiency ratings.
