Quilt debuts at Jay Jeffers and Field Theory-designed boutique hotels

Quilt is now keeping guests comfortable all year round at The Madrona in Healdsburg, California and Hotel Lilien in Tannersville, New York.

We’re excited to announce that Quilt is now keeping guests comfortable all year round at The Madrona in Healdsburg, California and Hotel Lilien in Tannersville, New York. This is our first time bringing Quilt into boutique hotels.

The Madrona, designed by AD100 architect Jay Jeffers, installed Quilt systems in five bungalows. Hotel Lilien, a Field Theory-designed boutique hotel, outfitted four guest rooms. At both properties, custom-finished Quilt units blend seamlessly into the interiors with stained wood, hand-painted, and wallpapered covers.

“When was the last time you saw a hotel celebrate their HVAC system?” asks Lizz Niemeyer, Quilt’s VP of Marketing & Communications. “It’s usually something to hide. Boutique hotels like The Madrona and Hotel Lilien care about every detail of the guest experience. Their bar for design, performance, and quality is incredibly high. It’s an honor that they chose Quilt to improve the guest experience across every metric.”

The hotel room climate experience has long been an afterthought: clunky wall units, confusing remotes, and uncomfortable temperature swings that disrupt sleep and detract from otherwise beautiful interiors. We’re changing that with hardware designed by Mike & Maaike that measures 7 ⅞ inches tall, customizable front covers, and intuitive bedside controls.

Quilt disappears into the room design and keeps our guests comfortable through every season. Also, the system is so intuitive that guests figure it out in seconds. It’s rare to find technology that just works without explanation.

“Our guests come to the Catskills to disconnect and recharge, which means the basics have to be flawless,” said Jason Marcus, Co-owner of Hotel Lilien. “Nobody thinks about HVAC until it’s too loud, too cold, or an eyesore. Quilt disappears into the room design and keeps our guests comfortable through every season. Also, the system is so intuitive that guests figure it out in seconds. It’s rare to find technology that just works without explanation.”

Beyond aesthetics, the Quilt Hotels program delivers measurable energy savings. Quilt systems are 20% more efficient than typical ductless heat pumps and up to four times more efficient than gas furnaces. The Madrona and Hotel Lilien will track comparative energy usage data to quantify cost savings and emission reductions.

“At The Madrona, we design everything with a focus on how our guests will experience the hotel with all of their senses,” said Cory Schisler, Partner at The Madrona. “In the past, HVAC always compromised the room’s design, sticking out against otherwise intentional interiors. With Quilt, we now have rooms with sleek white units that guests barely notice, and in the bungalows where we have custom wallpaper, we wrapped the entire unit in the same pattern so it disappears entirely.”
