  3. While wearing a pair of protective work gloves, remove visible debris from around the unit. Please note the heat exchanger is extremely sharp. Do not attempt to clean around the heat exchanger. Contact a Quilt-certified technician to clean the inside of the unit.

Troubleshooting

If the Dial is not performing as expected, you can restart the Dial from the display. If the display is frozen, unplug the adapter and plug it back in to restart it. If the power source is inaccessible, you can manually turn the Dial on and off by pressing the small reset button on the bottom of the Dial.

  1. To access the reset button:
    • Tabletop Dials: Turn the Dial over and remove the rubber cover.
    • Wall-mounted Dials: To remove the Dial from the wall mount, wrap your hand around its base, then firmly pull it away from the wall. Watch video here for demonstration of removal.
  2. Maintain power connection to the Dial, do not disconnect the power cable or power adapter.
  3. Press the small reset button on the bottom of the Dial using a sharp pointy tool, like a toothpick.
    • The Dial should power off and on.
  4. The Dial is ready to be used as normal.

Please follow the following steps to troubleshoot your indoor unit:

  1. Confirm the indoor unit is powered on by turning on the light bar via the Quilt app or Dial. If it doesn’t turn on, do the following:
    1. Confirm that the AC service disconnect to the outdoor unit is plugged in and on.
    2. Confirm that the circuit breakers are not flipped off for both the outdoor unit and indoor unit.
  2. Confirm the home wi-fi network is functioning. If it is not, refer to the Quilt User Manual section Manually controlling your Quilt System.”
  3. Confirm there is not a mode conflict, where one unit is set to heat and another unit connected to the same outdoor unit is set to cool. Test for mode conflict by changing the mode on both indoor units:
    1. Confirm via heating mode: Change both indoor units to heat” and adjust the setpoint temperature to the maximum value. Warm air should start blowing within 5 minutes.
    2. Confirm via cooling mode: Change both indoor units to cool” and adjust the setpoint temperature to the minimum value. Cold air should start blowing within 5 minutes.
  4. Restart the Quilt Sense by pressing and holding the power button for 8 seconds.
  5. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us via the email or phone listed above.

Please follow the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Inspect the outdoor unit for branches or debris. If found, remove.
  2. Inspect the indoor unit air filters, and clean if necessary. See Support Website section Maintenance and Cleaning” for detailed instructions.
  3. If airflow is low in cooling mode, remove the indoor unit front cover and inspect the heat exchanger for frost-formation. If frost is found, contact a Quilt-certified service professional to troubleshoot further.
  4. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us via the email or phone listed above.

Please follow the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Power off the indoor unit by turning off the AC service disconnect switch of the outdoor unit, or by flipping the circuit breakers to the outdoor unit off.
  2. Turn the system back on.
  3. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us via the email or phone listed above.

  1. Check that the filters on top of the indoor unit are flush with the top of the indoor unit. Check that the filters are clean and that there is no debris. See Support Website section Maintenance and Cleaning” for instructions to clean the filters.
  2. Do the sounds only occur when transitioning between modes? These sounds may be due to the expansion or contraction of the indoor unit as temperature changes. While not a functional issue, contact us if the noises are particularly loud, persistent, or concerning.
  3. Do the sounds only occur when the louvers are moving? If yes, then contact us via the email or phone listed above.

Are there loud grinding or metallic sounds coming from the outdoor unit? If yes, power off the unit and contact Quilt.

Dust build-up can cause the rubber bottom of the Dial to be slippery. Clean the bottom of the Dial with a damp cloth.

Sensors

Supplemental temperature sensors work seamlessly with your Quilt system to provide accurate temperature readings for optimal room-by-room control. The sensors communicate wirelessly with your Quilt system via Bluetooth, sending real-time temperature data to ensure your indoor units maintain the perfect temperature in each room.

These sensors can work alongside your Quilt Dial or replace it entirely where Dial installation isn’t ideal. Whether you use sensors as supplemental temperature control or as your primary sensing solution, you get the same intelligent, responsive heating and cooling experience.

You may benefit from supplemental sensors if:

  • Dial placement isn’t optimal: Your Dial is in direct sunlight, near a heat source, on an exterior wall, or in the airflow of your indoor unit
  • Maximum precision: Sensors give you additional data for optimal temperature control
  • Personal preference: You may not want a screen-based controller in certain rooms, like a child’s bedroom

Supplemental sensors ensure every room has accurate temperature control, regardless of constraints, maintaining the full Quilt experience throughout your home.

Pairing your sensor is simple and can be done by either you or your installer:

  1. Open the Quilt app and navigate to the room where you want to add the sensor
  2. Select Add sensor” from the room settings
  3. Follow the pairing flow using proximity detection — the app will find the closet sensor automatically
  4. Confirm pairing when the correct sensor is identified

The sensors pair via Bluetooth and the Quilt app uses signal proximity to detect which specific sensor you are trying to pair in a given space. If you have multiple sensors to pair, pair them one at a time by locating a single sensor near your mobile device (we recommend moving unpaired sensors to another room!).

The Quilt app will guide you through the process, and you can easily manage all paired sensors directly from the app.

For optimal performance, place your sensor in the same room as the indoor unit it will control. You want to pick a location where the sensor can accurately sense the room’s ambient temperature without interference from heat sources or direct airflow:

Ideal placement:

  • Away from direct sunlight
  • Not near heat sources (fireplaces, appliances, electronics)
  • Away from exterior walls and drafty windows
  • Out of the indoor unit’s airflow path
  • Not directly below the indoor unit

Good locations:

  • Interior walls at room temperature
  • Tabletops or shelves in central room locations
  • Areas that represent typical room conditions

The sensor comes with an adhesive strip as well as a short lanyard that can be used to secure it to your preferred location.

Sensors are available through your Quilt Certified Partner as part of your system design. Your installer will recommend the right combination of Dials and sensors based on your home’s specific needs and installation requirements.

Since sensors integrate seamlessly with your Quilt system, they’re typically included in your overall system configuration and installation. Contact your Quilt Certified Partner to discuss incorporating sensors into your system design and for specific pricing information.

The sensors work with your existing Quilt system, so they can also be added to current installations if you want to optimize temperature control in specific rooms.

The sensor uses two standard AAA Alkaline batteries that can last up to 2 years. Quilt displays the remaining battery life for each sensor in the app on the Devices page.
