Quilt Community,
Thank you. This milestone belongs to you.
Every Quilt heat pump installed, every partner who joins our network, every conversation you have with neighbors about your experience — this is how we move humanity off fossil fuels in the home. Today, we’re celebrating what we’ve built together and sharing news that accelerates this movement: Quilt has raised a $20M Series B round, bringing our total funding to $64M.
Where impact happens
The energy transition sounds big and distant. But it’s not — it’s happening in homes and communities right now.
There’s no better example than June, a retiree who installed Quilt in her manufactured home to move off gas and get controllable comfort in each room. June has inspired all of us at Quilt, and if you haven’t heard her story, you really should. Or Wilsons in Nova Scotia — a 106-year-old business that has transitioned from selling coal to installing Quilt heat pumps.
None of this happens without our partners. Our Quilt Certified Partners aren’t just installers — they’re educators and community builders bringing more efficient, clean energy into homes one installation at a time. From a handful of partners to 60+ across 16 states and 5 provinces, this network is the backbone of everything we do.
Why this matters to me
The energy transition is deeply personal to me. Growing up in Alberta, Canada, the energy industry — which at the time meant the fossil fuel industry — was the economy. You need to look no further than the names of our hockey teams (the Oilers and the Flames) to see how core the idea of burning oil is to our identity.
But while the fossil fuel industry has powered human progress for centuries, it’s time to pass the baton to newer, better energy systems enabling the next era of history. I believe 1,000 years from now, when people look back at this era of humanity, it will be defined by the energy transition. This transition is both our solution to the global ecological crisis we face, but also an opportunity to revisit society’s infrastructure and create fundamentally better products.
That’s our approach at Quilt. Creating better products that people love is the best way to accelerate the energy transition. I’ve wanted to bring the energy transition home for a very long time. That is why our Canada launch a few weeks ago was one of my proudest moments.
The momentum is real
Here’s what gives me the most confidence: people are choosing Quilt not just because it’s the right thing to do for the planet, but because it genuinely makes their lives better. We save people money. From day one we’ve prioritized energy efficiency, and homeowners are seeing the results in lower energy bills and year-round comfort.
We were awarded the highest SEER2 and HSPF2 scores of any heat pump in our category. But the real-world impact goes beyond lab ratings. With Auto-Away automatically adjusting empty rooms, real-time energy usage tracking, and over-the-air updates that make your system smarter over time, Quilt is at least:
- 20% more efficient than the next-best ductless heat pumps available
- 80% more efficient at cooling than what most North Americans have in their homes today
- 400% more efficient at heating than what most North Americans have in their homes today
We’ve grown from the Bay Area to 16 states and 5 provinces. From zero installed products to nearly 1,000 — a number we’ll surpass before the end of the year. This isn’t just business growth. This is proof that the energy transition is here, and it’s accelerating.
What this means for you
This funding unlocks faster growth, new products, and expanded impact. But more specifically:
- For homeowners: Shorter wait times, more service areas, and accelerated development of features you’ve been asking for
- For partners: Expanded support, more qualified leads, and better tools to serve your communities
- For everyone: You’re part of a growing movement that is meaningfully reducing emissions across North America
Hundreds of homes have already moved off fossil fuels with Quilt. But the real power of this community is what happens when you share your experience with neighbors, friends, and family. Every conversation you have about your Quilt system grows this movement. The energy transition comes home one installation at a time.
I’m also excited to share that we are welcoming Tom vonReichbauer (former CFO of Nest, Sunrun, and ICON) and Veery Maxwell (co-head of Galvanize Climate’s Innovation + Expansion fund) to our board of directors — two people who share our vision and will help us scale what’s working. And I want to thank our investors: Energy Impact Partners, Galvanize, Lowercarbon Capital, Gradient Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Incite Ventures, and others for their ongoing support of our mission.
This is truly just the beginning and we couldn’t be more optimistic about where we’re headed. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
